What is travel run in embroidery?

Running stitches that carry the needle from one part of a design to the next while sewing, placed where later stitching hides them, instead of a jump.

Stitches

Travel run, explained

Travel runs save trims and time, but they must stay hidden: one that crosses finished stitching or bare fabric shows as a stray line. Digitizers route them under areas that will be filled or covered later, or along the edges of a shape. Embrizo routes travel inside each shape through parts that aren't sewn yet, so the top stitching covers it, and trims instead when a move would show.
