What is stitch count in embroidery?

The total number of stitches in a design, the main driver of sew time, stiffness and, often, price.

Stitch count, explained

Shops often price stitching per 1,000 stitches, and fills add stitches fastest. As a rough guide, a 3.5 × 2.5 in left chest logo with about half its area stitched comes to around 4,000–6,000 stitches, while a heavily filled jacket back can pass 50,000. Estimate one with the stitch count calculator; Embrizo reports the exact count, colors, trims and sew time before you download.
