Machine comparison questions

The quickest way to see what it does with your artwork is to try it. With a free account, digitizing and previewing cost nothing and take about a minute.

What should I compare when choosing an embroidery machine?

Start with the largest embroidery field, since it limits the biggest design you can sew in one hooping. Then check the file format it reads, how designs get onto it (USB or Wi-Fi), whether it also sews, and single needle versus multi-needle for production.

Which embroidery machines have a 5x7 hoop?

In this chart, filter by "5x7 or larger" to see every model whose field is at least 130 × 180 mm, such as the Brother PE800 and SE1900.

Do all embroidery machines read the same files?

No. Brother and Baby Lock use PES, Janome uses JEF, Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff use VP3, Bernina uses EXP, Singer uses XXX and commercial machines usually read DST. A converter rewrites a design between formats.

Where does the machine data come from?

From each maker's published specifications, checked in October 2026. Specs change between model years, so confirm with the current model page or a dealer.
