What is bean stitch in embroidery?

A running stitch sewn three times over each step (forward, back, forward), giving a bold line without using a satin column.

Bean stitch, explained

Bean stitch is used for outlines that need to stand out, especially on textured fabrics where a single running stitch disappears. It triples the stitches along the line, so on very small details it can look heavy. Embrizo uses running or bean stitch for lines thinner than about 0.75 mm, where a satin column would be too narrow.
