What is in-the-hoop in embroidery?

A project stitched and assembled entirely in the hoop, such as a zip pouch, key fob, coaster or ornament, needing little or no sewing afterward.

Designs and digitizing

In-the-hoop, explained

In-the-hoop (ITH) files run in steps: a placement line shows where each piece of fabric goes, a tack-down holds it, you trim the excess, and later steps add the decoration, the back and a final seam. The machine stops between steps, usually coded as color changes. Embrizo doesn't make ITH step files, but it can digitize the artwork that goes on the front; the in-the-hoop guide explains the process.
