What is design size and scaling in embroidery?

The finished stitched width and height of a design. Resizing a stitch file changes its density, so big size changes need re-digitizing.

Designs and digitizing

Design size and scaling, explained

A stitch file keeps the same number of stitches when you scale it, so it gets denser when shrunk and sparser when enlarged; changes of around 10% are usually fine. For bigger changes, digitize again from the artwork at the new size. In Embrizo you set the width or pick a hoop preset before downloading, so the stitches are planned for that size; check the fit with the hoop size calculator.
