What is tackle twill in embroidery?

Letters and numbers cut from polyester twill fabric and stitched onto a garment with a satin or zigzag edge, the classic look of sports jerseys.

Tackle twill, explained

Tackle twill keeps big names and numbers lighter and more flexible than filled letters, and it is often layered in two colors for an outlined look. The pieces are usually precut with a heat-activated adhesive backing, pressed in place, then stitched around the edge, much like appliqué. Embrizo doesn't make tackle twill files; the team jersey guide covers when to choose twill over stitched letters.
