What is 3D puff in embroidery?

Raised embroidery made by sewing dense satin over a sheet of foam; the excess foam is torn away, leaving the stitches standing up from the fabric.

Designs and digitizing

3D puff, explained

3D puff is popular on caps for bold letters and simple logos. It needs its own digitizing: satin columns wide enough to hold the foam (often 3 mm or more), higher density than usual and closed-off column ends so the foam doesn't show. Embrizo doesn't make puff files; it's a specialist technique, and the digitizing cost guide covers when a professional digitizer is worth it.
