Machines and thread
Metallic thread, explained
Metallic thread twists, frays and breaks more easily, so many embroiderers fit a metallic or topstitch needle, often 80/12 or 90/14, slow the machine down and let the thread feed from a thread stand or a spool with a thread net. Designs sew better with lighter density, longer stitches and fewer tiny details, and the top tension often needs loosening slightly. The metallic thread guide has the full setup.
